Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro in Singapore is an international debut of Japan’s best-loved Szechwan restaurants, Shisen Hanten.

It is the product of a proud culinary legacy that began with the founding of Japan’s first Szechwan restaurant back in 1958 by Chen Kenmin who is regarded as the “Father of Szechwan cuisine” in Japan, before handing down the legacy to his eldest son, Chen Kenichi, nicknamed the “Szechwan Sage” and was acclaimed as one of Japan’s most celebrated iron chefs.

Szechwan Cuisine is renowned for its use of bold flavours. The cuisine is composed of seven basic flavours: Sour, Spicy, Hot, Sweet, Bitter, Aromatic, and Salty.
